The second building is a 20,000 square foot, single story, concrete slab-on-grade, wood frame, Memory Care facility for individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. It will include 24 resident rooms, each with an individual bathroom; common spaces, a full service kitchen, dining room, offices, support spaces and a central open-air courtyard.
The site will be accessed from a primary drive from the recently constructed roundabout at the intersection of Midland Ave. and 27th St. A secondary emergency access drive is located at the southwest corner of the property. The two buildings share a parking lot for visitors and staff. There will be a minimum of 20 parking spaces in the lower level of the Assisted Living facility for residents, providing a total of 61 parking spaces on site. Situated overlooking the banks of the Roaring Fork River this environmentally friendly project will fill a significant void for high quality assisted living and memory care in the Roaring Fork Valley.
The residences are designed to keep in character with Glenwood Springs and the surrounding area and allow patients and visitors to feel as though they are in a cozy comfortable residence. The richly appointed Center will be built of various local, sustainable materials such as natural wood, iron, and stone and will use as many environmentally responsible materials as to preserve and enhance the environment while providing a comfortable atmosphere for the senior population of the area.
